The Test 99% of Doctors Don’t Run (But Should): Why the GI-MAP Is a Game-Changer for Gut Health
By Nicholas Wasierski | Wandering Bear WellnessIf you’re dealing with ongoing digestive issues, fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, or skin flare-ups—and you’ve been told everything looks “normal”—you’re not alone.
The truth? Most conventional tests aren’t designed to catch the root causes of chronic gut issues. That’s where the GI-MAP comes in. It’s one of the most advanced and comprehensive stool tests available—and it’s often the missing piece for people who’ve tried everything and still don’t feel well.
What Is the GI-MAP?
The GI-MAP (Gastrointestinal Microbial Assay Plus) is a cutting-edge stool test that uses DNA technology to analyze the exact organisms living in your gut—both the good and the bad.
Unlike traditional stool tests that only detect what grows in a lab dish, the GI-MAP identifies microbes using PCR (polymerase chain reaction), which means it picks up even small traces of parasites, bacteria, viruses, and fungi that could be impacting your health.
What It Tests For:
Pathogenic bacteria (like C. diff, H. pylori, Salmonella)
Parasites (worms and protozoa—yes, even if you’ve never left the country)
Candida & other yeasts
Leaky gut markers (like zonulin)
Digestive function (elastase, secretory IgA, fat in stool)
Inflammation & immune markers (calprotectin, anti-gliadin IgA)
Why It Matters
Many of the clients I work with are burned out, inflamed, and confused. They’re eating “healthy” but still bloated. They’re tired all the time. Their moods are unpredictable. And yet… standard labs keep coming back “fine.”
Here’s the thing: gut dysfunction doesn’t always show up in your basic bloodwork.
The GI-MAP reveals the root causes that other tests miss—like hidden infections, imbalances in beneficial bacteria, poor enzyme production, or gut lining damage. Once we know what’s really going on, we can stop guessing and start targeting a plan that works.
Who It’s For
This test is ideal if you’re struggling with:
IBS or unexplained bloating/gas
Constipation or loose stools
Chronic fatigue
Brain fog
Anxiety or mood swings
Skin issues like eczema or acne
Autoimmune symptoms
Food sensitivities
Real Talk: What It’s Like
You collect your sample at home and send it to the lab. In about 2-3 weeks, we’ll sit down together (virtually or in person) to walk through your personalized gut report. We’ll go line by line so you actually understand what’s going on inside your body.
From there, I’ll build a protocol based on your results—using a blend of herbal antimicrobials, targeted supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle changes to help restore balance.
Your Gut Is Talking. Are You Listening?
You shouldn’t have to settle for “managing symptoms.” You deserve real answers—and a clear path forward.
If you’ve been living with gut issues and feel like no one’s gotten to the bottom of it, the GI-MAP might be your next step.

I was born in Western Alaska during a winter storm on the Kuskokwim River steeped in the wisdom of knowing where my food comes from - catching salmon, gathering berries in the summer, and hunting Caribou and Moose in the fall and winter.
For many years I lived as a wanderer, finding work as a carpenter, welder, and mechanic throughout the West until I stumbled upon The Wilderness Awareness School which grounded me and reminded me of the old ways of living. Remembering that my purpose for being on this planet was to bring ceremony back to his lineage.
I found a home in Port Townsend Washington where I am currently reside, and work as a Structural Integrator (Rolfer), Holistic Health Coach, and a Rites of Passage guide running Wandering Bear Wellness.
In my spare time, you can find me singing rain down from the sky, meditating, studying, fishing, and midnight flower picking.
